About this role

Maintenance & Repair: Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance on high-tension/low-tension (HT/LT) panels, transformers, switchgears, and substations. [1, 2] Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and resolve electrical breakdowns on heavy-duty mill motors, melting furnaces, and conveyor systems to prevent production bottlenecks. [1, 2] Automation & Control: Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), automation sensors, and AC/DC drives. [1, 2, 3] Installations: Assist in the erection, installation, and commissioning of new electrical infrastructure and heavy machinery. [1, 2] Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to industrial safety protocols, conduct grounding/earthing checks, and enforce LOTO procedures. [1, 2]

Required skills

1. Core Technical & Industrial Electrical Skills Substation & High-Tension (HT) / Low-Tension (LT) Systems: Expertise in handling, maintaining, and troubleshooting HT/LT switchgears, transformers, circuit breakers, and distribution panels. Furnace & Heavy Equipment Maintenance: Hands-on experience with electrical systems specific to Ferro Alloy plants—including Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF), transformers, electrode regulating systems, busbars, and cooling water pump motors. Control Panels & Automation: Ability to read and troubleshoot complex electrical schematic drawings, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control circuits, AC/DC drives, and relay logic panels. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Conducting routine checks to prevent electrical failures, quickly diagnosing faults during sudden plant shutdowns, and performing emergency repairs to minimize production downtime. 2. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Industrial Safety Protocols: Strict adherence to plant safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for high-voltage work, and earthing/grounding checks. Statutory Standards: Familiarity with Indian Electricity (IE) rules, factory electrical safety norms, and compliance with statutory inspection requirements. Fire Safety: Knowledge of handling electrical fires (Class C fires) and maintaining fire suppression systems around heavy electrical zones. 3. Soft Skills & Operational Competencies Team Leadership & Shift Management: Ability to guide junior electricians, technicians, and helpers, and manage electrical maintenance duties across rotating shifts. Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Quick diagnostic capability under high-pressure plant breakdown situations to identify root causes. Record Keeping: Maintaining logbooks for daily electrical readings, breakdown histories, spare parts consumption, and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
