About this role
1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Lead the mechanical/electrical maintenance team to troubleshoot and repair heavy washery machinery, including crushers, vibrating screens, slurry pumps, thickeners, centrifuges, and belt conveyor networks.
Attend to plant emergency breakdowns swiftly to minimize downtime and ensure seamless production flow.
Oversee component servicing, bearing replacements, gear box alignments, and welding/fabrication work.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all plant machinery to improve equipment reliability and extend operational life span.
Monitor equipment health indicators (vibrations, temperature, noise levels, lubrication status) and report anomalies proactively.
3. Shop-Floor Supervision & Team Management
Supervise fitters, technicians, welders, and junior maintenance staff on the shop floor.
Allocate daily work tasks, manage shift rotas for maintenance crews, and ensure proper tool and spare parts utilization.
Coordinate closely with the Production Shift Incharges to schedule maintenance windows without disrupting critical plant operations.
Required skills
1. Technical & Heavy Machinery Expertise Mechanical & Electrical Troubleshooting: Deep diagnostic skills for identifying and rectifying faults in heavy industrial machinery, including jaw/roll crushers, vibrating screens, slurry pumps, thickeners, centrifuges, and gearboxes. Conveyor & Material Handling Maintenance: Expertise in belt tracking, splicing, roller/idler replacement, pulley alignment, and chute maintenance. Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Basic troubleshooting and upkeep of hydraulic power packs, valves, and pneumatic control lines used in plant operations. 2. Preventive Maintenance & Workshop Skills PM Execution: Ability to plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to ensure high equipment uptime and asset reliability. Fabrication & Tooling: Proficiency in shop-floor tasks, including gas cutting, arc/MIG welding, mechanical alignments, bearing fitting, and rigging/lifting heavy components. 3. Shop-Floor Supervision & Leadership Team Management: Capability to supervise, mentor, and direct a crew of technicians, fitters, welders, and helpers. Cross-Functional Coordination: Strong collaboration skills to work hand-in-hand with Production Shift Incharges to align maintenance windows with operational targets. 4. Safety & Compliance Skills Safety Protocols: Strict implementation of heavy industry safety norms, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), hot-work permits, and safe lifting/rigging practices during repairs. Hazard Identification: Quick assessment of shop-floor risks to prevent accidents during high-risk maintenance interventions.
