About this role
The Rigger – RMHSD is responsible for the safe lifting, shifting, unloading, positioning, and handling of raw materials, equipment, and related materials in the Raw Material Handling, Storage & Dispatch area of a DRI plant. The role supports raw material procurement and handling operations by ensuring materials received from suppliers are safely unloaded, moved, stacked, and positioned as per operational requirements.
Required skills
2–5 years of relevant rigging/material-handling experience preferred. Experience in DRI, Sponge Iron, Steel Plant, Mining, Cement, Power Plant, or Heavy Industry preferred. Good knowledge of rigging and safe lifting practices. Knowledge of SWL/WLL, load weight, sling selection, lifting angles, and load balancing. Ability to identify suitable lifting tackles for different loads. Good knowledge of crane/Hydra hand signals. Experience working with wire ropes, chain slings, web slings, shackles, hooks, and chain blocks. Basic knowledge of raw material yard operations and material handling. Physically fit and capable of working in hot, dusty, and outdoor industrial conditions. Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts.
Good to have
Experience in raw material unloading and yard handling. Knowledge of safe handling of iron ore, coal, dolomite, limestone, pellets, additives, and other DRI raw materials, where applicable. Ability to coordinate with crane/Hydra operators and truck drivers. Good understanding of material stacking and storage safety. Ability to identify unsafe lifting conditions and stop work when necessary. Good communication and teamwork. Strong safety awareness and disciplined working habits. Ability to work efficiently under high-volume material-receiving conditions.
