About this role
Responsible for safe rigging, lifting, shifting, positioning, and handling of mechanical equipment and components during routine, preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance activities in the Captive Power Plant (CPP). The rigger works closely with mechanical maintenance teams, crane operators, and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations
Required skills
Relevant experience in CPP, power plant, DRI, steel, cement, heavy engineering, or industrial maintenance preferred. Minimum 2–5 years of rigging experience preferred. Good knowledge of rigging and lifting practices. Knowledge of SWL/WLL, load weight estimation, sling selection, lifting angles, and centre of gravity. Ability to identify suitable lifting tackles according to load and lifting conditions. Good knowledge of crane/Hydra hand signals. Experience with chain blocks, lever hoists, wire ropes, slings, shackles, and lifting accessories. Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and maintenance activities. Physically fit and capable of working at heights and in industrial environments, subject to site safety requirements. Willingness to work rotational shifts and during planned shutdowns.
Good to have
Practical experience in heavy equipment rigging and mechanical maintenance. Knowledge of lifting and shifting methods for pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, valves, and other CPP equipment. Ability to read basic lifting drawings/sketches and understand lifting instructions. Good understanding of load balance and centre of gravity. Strong communication with crane/Hydra operators and maintenance teams. Ability to work safely in congested and restricted areas. Good teamwork and coordination. Strong safety awareness and disciplined working habits. Ability to respond effectively during breakdown and emergency maintenance.
